Book Awards Winners 2015

Congratulations to the winners of the 2015 British Book Design & Production Awards

The BPIF is delighted to announce the winners of the British Book Design and Production Awards 2015. The Awards were held on 26 November 2015 at a lavish location, the Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel in Knightsbridge, central London. The guest speaker for the evening was Mark Watson, one of the leading live performers in the UK, known for his appearances on Have I Got News for You and Mock the Week. Watson himself is no stranger to publishing written material, including a semi-autobiographical book and several novels.

The judges were inundated with over 500 beautifully produced entries, making their task extremely difficult. Two new categories were added this year – Self-Published Books and Graphic Novels – both of which proved popular.

Bloomsbury Publishing was the outright winner of the awards, finishing at the top of three categories and taking home the coveted title of Book of the Year for The Imaginary, which the judges agreed was ‘breathtaking’.

Once again, the most popular category was Best Jacket/Cover Design, won by publishers Thames & Hudson for Madness in Civilization, described as an “excellent example of where a strong concept and clean design perfectly fulfils a jacket’s brief, and draws the reader in” by the judges.

The Best British Book went to Jon Bannenberg for A Life of Design, which charts the career of the QE2 designer, and which was entered by et al design consultants. The winner of Best Student Book was Four Parts Sand/One Part Cement, entered by Thomas Lynes from Norwich University of the Arts, and featuring what the judges called ‘fantastic monotone imagery’.

A fantastic evening was had by all, and the Awards ceremony allowed those that continuously innovate, push the boundaries and embrace new technologies to be recognised for their efforts.

Congratulations to all winners and finalists.
